Five Great Family Holidays in France

Five Great Family Holidays in France

When thinking of taking a holiday to France with your loved ones, it is likely your first thoughts are of the Eiffel Tower, or maybe Marseille. However, the beauty of France doesn’t stop there! There are also many top beach destinations that are fun for the entire family! Whether you are looking for a relaxing holiday on the beach, an adventure in the sea, or a stay in a medieval village, we’ve found the best destinations for you to go with your family. Read on to hear about the top five, fun-filled, sunny holidays you can have with your family in France!

The first destination on the list is Nice, France. Located in southern France, near the Italian border, this city is filled with fun for the entire family. You have endless guesthouse and hotel options located right on the sea. We recommend taking a day trip to the nearby Monaco, for a day living the high life. There is also an array of bike tours to get the family moving while on holiday, starting at a reasonable price of fifty euros per person. Head to the beachfront for endless boutiques to get you shopping fix. Lastly, if your family likes adventure- water sports are in the plentiful in Nice, with options of jet skiing, parasailing and snorkeling!

Located near St. Tropez is Cavalaire-sur-Mer, our second pick for a family holiday in France. The proximity to St. Tropez is close, but without the glitz and the glamour of its fancy neighbor. This area is less busy, so you will be able to find some secluded beaches where it may just be your own, private swim spot for the day! There is also an option for camping in the middle of the city centre, and you are able to rent a chalet for less than three hundred pounds for a week during the off season. From there, you are able to walk around to café and restaurants, or have you own campfire!

Our third holiday is located in Argele’s Plage, located near the Spain border. This town is perfect for a family vacation, as the beach is prime for basking in the sun and playing in the sand. There is an eight kilometer stretch of sand and the beach rarely gets crowded, despite having crystal clear waters, which is perfect when you have little ones running around!  A tree lined promenade can work as the perfect oasis for when the sun gets too hot. Popular with French families, the beach has a marina and a beach club for the kids!

The fourth destination on our list is Menton, Provence. This beautiful town is located on the French Riviera, and is known for its pristine beaches and beautiful gardens. This is a great place to go if your family enjoys architecture, as the coastline is filled with beautiful, orange colored buildings with a fantastic, medieval design. The family will enjoy the pebbled beaches and crystal, clear, blue water.

The last, but certainly not least destination on our list is St. Jean de Luz, in Pyrenees-Atlantiques. This is a favorite for families that want to have a holiday in France as it is a small fishing village with plenty of charm. Spend your days on the beach, exploring the walking paths on the coast, at a farmers market or people watching in the port. When you’ve had enough sun, head over to the promenade for some evening activities or have a fresh seafood dinner at one of the many restaurants along the coastline.

Regardless of your choice, your holiday in France won’t be disappointing. Enjoy the beautiful coastlines, fresh seafood, fun people and most of all, your family. Susan loves France, it is her dream to retire there hopefully sooner rather than later.
